5 IMPORTANT NMC GUIDELINES THAT EVERY ONE WHO DECIDE TO STUDY MBBS ABROAD MUST KNOW.

Are you considering pursuing MBBS abroad?

It’s crucial to understand the guidelines set by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to ensure a smooth transition into medical practice in India.

Let’s delve into the essential criteria you need to fulfill:

4.5-Year Course Duration + 1-Year Internship: The NMC mandates that the MBBS course should span over 4.5 years, followed by a compulsory 1-year internship. This comprehensive program equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge for medical practice.

Complete English Medium Course with No Dual Language: Opting for a complete English medium course without any dual-language instruction is vital. This ensures clarity and consistency in medical education, facilitating better understanding and communication.

Clear the Local Licensing Exam: Upon completing your MBBS abroad, clearing the local licensing exam in the country of study is imperative. This exam validates your competency to practice medicine in that jurisdiction.

Eligibiltiy to practice as an “Independent Medical Practitioner” in the country where you complete your degree:  clearing the local licensing exam means that the Governement allows you to practice as an independent medical practitioner in the country of study.

in certain countries like Georgia, there is no licensing exam after completion of MBBS/MD and you can only practice as a “Junior Doctor”. inorder to practice as an “Independent Medical Practitioner” you need to complete PG for which you need to clear a entrance exam first. this will take an extra 2 to 3 years and Indian students will not be able to complete the entire process of clearing NEXT WITHIN 10 years from the date of joining.

Complete the Entire Process Including NEXT within 10 Years: It’s essential to complete the entire process, including clearing the National Exit Test (NEXT), within 10 years from the date of joining the foreign medical institution. This ensures that your medical knowledge remains current and relevant.

Adhering to these guidelines not only ensures compliance with NMC standards but also prepares you effectively for a successful medical career in India. Make informed decisions and embark on your journey to becoming a qualified medical professional with confidence.
