Historical Journey:

  • Founded on September 26, 1876, in Belgorod, the Teacher’s Training Institute emerged by order of the Russian Ministry of Public Education.
  • In 1919, it transformed into the Belgorod Pedagogical Institute and further reorganized in 1920 as the Belgorod Institute of Public Education.   • The university faced a temporary halt in 1941 during World War II, resuming operations in 1944 but relocating to Stary Oskol due to the extensive destruction of Belgorod. Since 1957, the university has been situated in Belgorod.

Urban Layout and Historical Fortresses:

  • Like many Russian cities, Belgorod originated as a fortified settlement. The first Belgorod fortress was constructed at the end of the 16th century on a chalk mountain.
  • In 1650, the voivode Vasily Petrovich Golovin laid the foundation for the third Belgorod Fortress on the left bank of the Vezenitsa River.
  • Over time, the military significance of the fortress diminished, and by the mid-18th century, only the Kremlin remained.

City Planning Evolution:

  • In 1766, Governor Andrei Fliverk initiated a new city plan, featuring a regular street layout signed in 1767. The central part included an octahedral marketplace and a structured street plan.
  • A subsequent plan in 1768, led by architect Andrey Kvasov, introduced a trading area connecting to the fortress Kremlin and stone benches of the Gostiny dvor.

Eligibility For MBBS at Belgorod State University, Russia
